How to setup a correct Project URL / Website URL
Each project and its tracking code are specifically designed to track a single domain, its subdomains and/or subdirectories.
A single project visitor tracking code cannot be used to track different websites located under different domain names. Each domain name needs to use its own project with a dedicated tracking code.
In order for the landing pages and sources of your website traffic to be properly reported on your logs, the (Project URL) must specify your website’s exact domain, subdomain and subdirectory that points to your home (root) page. If you are unsure about the exact URL path of your home page, navigate to your website and click on any link that leads to the primary home (root) page of your website. Your browser address bar will show the exact location you would need to use for your project’s Website URL. If your browser's bar shows a path such as http://www.example.com/index.html, you would need to omit index.html and enter the rest of URL as http://www.example.com
Here are a few examples on how to properly setup your Project URL. Website URL must point to a home page of your website as follows:
Once your visitor tracker logs at least 400 page loads, you can also verify if your project URL is properly setup by going to “My Projects” page under your TraceMyIP account, and clicking on the “edit” link located to the right of your project name.
